Enjoy Staffordshire, the county’s official tourist board, has launched a search for the county’s first Tourism Superstar.
They are looking for nominations from tourism businesses for individuals who are passionate about where they work, and go above and beyond to ensure visitors to Staffordshire have an amazing and unforgettable experience. The winner will be put forward for the national Tourism Superstar competition, run by VisitEngland, which starts in January and will see 10 finalists go head-to-head in a public vote on the Mirror newspaper’s website.
The national Tourism Superstar will be announced during English Tourism Week (18th-25th April 2020), and will receive their award at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in June 2020.
Last year’s winner was Emily Hope, from Beamish, The Living Museum of the North in County Durham, who welcomes the museum’s 764,000 annual visitors in her varied period costumes and shows total dedication to the highest standards of customer service. She also leads on developments to enhance the visitor experience, for example becoming a Dementia Friends Champion, training staffs, volunteers and members of the community to make a real difference to visitors living with dementia.
If you are a Staffordshire tourism business, and you employ someone like Emily who is a Tourism Superstar, nominate them via the application form on the Enjoy Staffordshire website: https://www.enjoystaffordshire.com/trade/what-we-do/tourism-awards/tourism-superstar
The deadline for Staffordshire nominations is Monday 6th January 2020.
