Stone’s brand new Christmas lights were switched on last night by some of the stars of Stafford Gatehouse’s panto.
After a performance from singer Matt Blake and a wonderful selection of Christmas songs by young members of the Stone Schools Combined Choir, the panto performers joined town mayor Cathy Collier, Santa Claus and members of comperes Stafford Radio to push the button and launch the festive season in the town.
Lots of local charities and businesses had stalls at the bottom of town and there were fairground rides and food stalls galore. The lights are brand new and the first to be supplied and installed as part of a new Stone Town Council contract.
Volunteers from Stone in Bloom also made sure that the wall-mounted Christmas trees above businesses all over the town were installed and lit, ready for the big switch-on event. You may also have seen their giant Christmas pudding van in the town last night too!
