Thanks to Johua Cope, Matt Kenney, Penny Holland and Amara Pickerill for these photographs of flooding in and around Stone.
The town certainly took a battering from the rain today – let’s hope this is as bad as it gets. As the photos show, the River Trent through Stone was swollen and bursting its banks, with Crown Meadow looking like a swamp. The Swan was flooded and, as pictures here show, The Swan’s beer garden was under water too. Things should be OK for the start of The Swan’s beer festival though.
Unfortunately we’ve got no photographs yet but a herd of cows was rescued from land to the west of Crown Meadow after water was up to their midriff.
