The Christmas tree festival at St Wulfad and St Michael’s Church got under way today.
Schools, charities, community groups and organisations from across Stone have decorated trees and created window displays for the festival, which takes place at the church in Church Street from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th December (available to view between 10am and 4pm on Friday and Saturday, and between noon and 2.30pm on Sunday).
There’s a beautiful knitted Nativity scene from Stone WI, a friendship tree from members of St Michael’s First School’s Friendship Club, a lovely floral display by Alison O’Mara, a tree of painted faces by Stone Beavers and lots more. A lovely touch is the special baptism tree which contains all the names of the 67 babies baptised this year at St Michael’s and St Saviour’s at Aston-by-Stone.
There’s a special photo slideshow below but don’t just look at the pictures – a visit is a must! Tea and coffee is available and there’s also a tombola. Entry is free but donations are gratefully received, with proceeds going to the Donna Louise Trust, which runs the Treetops children’s hospice in Trentham.
The winner will be announced during the mayor’s civic carol concert on Sunday at 3pm, when choirs from St Michael’s First School will be taking part in the Nine Lessons and Carols.
