Last night was the inaugural FEAST street food event, which saw hundreds of people brave the British weather to see what Stone’s latest foodie experience had to offer.
FEAST was organised by Sauce Magazine, Stone Food and Drink Festival and the Stone Traders Group and the people of Stone brought their umbrellas down to see what it was all about.
The street food event saw a real mix of food and drink on offer, with very little overlap. This meant there was something for everyone….until some stalls sold out due to the massive popularity of the event!
We caught up with the owners of the stone baked pizzas who said they’d sold out far earlier than expected, they’d been caught out by mums with school children buying pizzas on the way home from school!
Another runaway success of the night was Jake and the team from Little Seeds who sold out of all of their amazing buttermilk chicken, even running back up to their restaurant for more supplies!
One thing you can bank on in the UK is the weather and by that I mean it will do what it wants to do! The event ran from 3pm until 9pm and there was a constant stream of visitors to the High Street dodging the showers under umbrellas and having a nice wander around. Benches had been placed down the centre of the High Street which were a welcome place to stop and eat before heading onto the next stall!
It was good to see that some of the High Street shops had also stayed open, showing that Stone is open for business!
There was music at the event, however, the rain put pay to some bands playing in the Market Square. Thankfully the Crown Hotel opened its doors and the band and dancers could move inside!
As a first event, it really laid the marker down for something that could become a really great addition for the town. The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
The next event is scheduled for June and we can’t wait to see the stalls that come for round 2!
A massive congratulations to the team who organised the event, it’s always nice to have something new put on for the town and we hope that the people who travelled to Stone come back again soon!
Here are some photos from the night!
