It was a good night for the Independents in Stone as they won both by-elections in Walton yesterday.
A seat on Stafford Borough Council and on Stone Town Council were up for grabs following the death of Cllr Mike Carey in July.
Independent candidate Jill Hood – already a town councillor and well known in the town for her work with Stone In Bloom – won the borough council by-election.
Mark Green from Stone’s Independent Voice returns to Stone Town Council after winning the Walton seat in yesterday’s by-election. He had lost his seat in the May elections.

Great news.

We would both like to thank everyone in Walton who voted for us . As a Stone’s Independent Voice member Mark has never stopped working hard for Stone, and will continue to do so as a town councillor. I’m thrilled to be elected to the Borough and will also continue to work hard. Thank you to all the members of Stone’s Independent Voice who have supported us throughout our campaign.

Well done Jill and Mark – nice to see a more representative reflection of the Stone electorate on both Borough and Town Councils. Keep up the good work!
