Singer/songwriter and natty dresser of this parish, Stone’s very own Ben Owen, accompanied by Lainy Davies on drums and Tony Hollinshead on guitar, collectively known as The Ben Owen Trio, will be rocking Granvilles tomorrow (Thurs). Admission is free, and the gig starts at 9pm.
One of the tracks you can expect to hear, without a doubt, will be Ben’s forthcoming release, the funktastic Dirty Little Secret. He’ll be recording a promo video for the single from Friday.
It’s a busy time for our messy-mopped muso. His jamminowen YouTube channel is going from strength to strength, with regular uploads of popular covers. He has a new ep in the pipeline, continues to host his popular established open mic on Wednesdays at The Star, plus he’s one of the judges for the Stone’s Got Talent contest. Auditions have taken place throughout May, and will culminate in a grand final on Saturday July 12th.
As if that wasn’t enough, to commemorate the first anniversary of the popular Young Musicians Showcase, the event scheduled for July 6th will be a specially extended edition. The showcases are held at Costa on the first Sunday of each month, organised by the Young Musicians Collective, the brainchild of Ben & Tony, to provide youngsters with a platform to perform live and acquire sound and stagecraft skills, great idea.
Looks like Ben’s all set to enjoy the summer, even if he’s having to work so hard!
Here’s a performance of Dirty Little Secret recorded at Ben’s Sugarmill gig last Oct, when he provided support for Ryan Keen…
