Jamie and Joe’s 20-Mile Defibrillator Challenge – A Lifesaving Journey Across Stone

Jamie and Joes AEDdonate Challenge

On Friday, the 25th of April 2025, Jamie Richards, CEO of AEDdonate, and his friend Joe Dean will embark on a 20-mile trek across Stone, inspecting 50 defibrillators to ensure they are operational and raising awareness about their importance in saving lives.

The Challenge Ahead

Starting from the AED on Jamie’s driveway, the duo will hit various locations across Stone, finishing their journey at the AEDdonate Head Office. Their route is planned to cover areas where defibrillators are installed, ensuring each device is functional and ready for emergencies. This initiative underscores the significance of regular maintenance and accessibility of defibrillators in public spaces.

The Importance of Defibrillators

Defibrillators, or Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), are crucial in the event of sudden cardiac arrests. They deliver a controlled electric shock to the heart, potentially restoring a normal rhythm. Immediate use of an AED can significantly increase survival rates, making their availability and functionality paramount.

AEDdonate’s Commitment

AEDdonate is dedicated to placing and maintaining defibrillators across communities. In Stone alone, the charity invests approximately £2,500 annually to ensure these devices are in optimal working condition. This commitment highlights the ongoing need for community support and funding to sustain these lifesaving tools.

Community Engagement and Support

The challenge presents an opportunity for the Stone community and beyond to rally behind a vital cause. Residents, local businesses, and organisations are encouraged to participate in various ways:

The Route and Its Significance

The 20-mile journey is not just a test of endurance but also a symbolic act representing the continuous effort required to keep lifesaving equipment operational. By physically visiting each defibrillator, Jamie and Joe demonstrate the hands-on approach AEDdonate takes in its mission.

A Call to Action
