This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of safety, quality, and environmental initiatives across a large facility. You will play a critical part in maintaining and enhancing the standards that ensure the safety and efficiency of our operations while enjoying support for further development of your qualifications and skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Health & Safety

Ensure the site complies with UK health and safety legislation and aligns with the wider group’s health and safety strategy.
Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections, reporting on health and safety performance.
Drive a safety-first culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and a sense of ownership among the workforce.
Manage and monitor Health & Safety systems, ensuring accurate reporting and timely resolution of hazards, incidents, and injuries.
Lead the Health & Safety committee and ensure regular, productive meetings to maintain a proactive approach.
Ensure all Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) are up-to-date and compliant.
Liaise with relevant authorities, regulators, and external bodies to ensure ongoing compliance and improvements.
Quality Systems

 

Oversee and improve all aspects of the company’s quality systems, including documentation, reporting, and ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 (2015), BRCGS Packaging Materials, and FSC certification.
Ensure sensitive and effective management of quality issues, including supplier and customer relations in conjunction with the manufacturing team.
Lead regular quality inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance, identify improvements, and implement corrective actions.
Hold monthly quality meetings to review performance, set improvement objectives, and track progress.
Record and analyse the cost of quality failures and implement strategies to reduce these costs over time.
Environmental Compliance

 

Assist in ensuring the site meets environmental legislation and best practices in line with company policies.
Support the continuous development of environmental initiatives to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and promote sustainability.
Conduct environmental risk assessments and audits, ensuring all environmental aspects are compliant with regulations.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Proven experience in a similar Health, Safety, and Quality role, ideally within the print, packaging, or other manufacturing sectors.
Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent qualification).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
Experience with managing or auditing quality systems in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of ISO 9001.
Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement in health, safety, and quality practices.
Competent in using Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting and documentation.
