District Training Lead Volunteer
The District Training Manager helps make sure adult volunteers across the District complete the training they need to volunteer safely and confidently. This role is mainly about keeping things organised, chasing training politely but firmly, and arranging first aid courses.
You don’t need to be a trainer yourself — this role is about coordination, communication, and follow-up.
What you’ll actually do
• Check which volunteers have training due or overdue
• Send reminders and follow up with volunteers who haven’t completed required training
• Keep track of training deadlines and update records
• Support the District Commissioner by highlighting training non-compliance
• Help manage training-related suspensions and reinstatements
• Organise first aid courses, including:
— Booking trainers and venues
— Managing course bookings and waiting lists
— Confirming attendance and updating records afterwards
• Answer basic questions from volunteers about what training they need to do and how to access it
What you don’t need
• You don’t need to deliver training
• You don’t need specialist qualifications
• You don’t need to know everything about Scouting training systems at the start
Training, guidance, and support will be provided.
Skills that help
• Being organised and comfortable keeping track of tasks
• Confidence to chase people politely but persistently
• Clear and friendly communication (email, phone, messaging)
• Being reliable and able to handle confidential information
• Willingness to learn simple online systems
Why this role matters
This role helps ensure:
• Volunteers are properly trained and supported
• Young people are kept safe
• Groups and the District stay compliant
• Leaders don’t miss out on activities due to expired training
