Katie’s education mission to Thailand

A Stone student is off to Thailand for six weeks this summer to teach English and work as a language assistant in rural primary and secondary schools.

Katie Farley

Katie Farley, aged 18, who lives on Aston Lodge and is studying primary education at Edge Hill University, will be volunteering for VESL, a charity that runs educational projects in the neediest communities in Thailand, Sri Lanka and India.

But Katie – former head girl at Alleyne’s High School – has to raise almost £1,000 and has appealed to people in the town to help.

Katie said: “The aim of the project is to give the children key English skills that will provide them with brighter futures and help them to progress in life. My fundraising target is £990 and has to be met by June 2013.

“I’d be so grateful if people in Stone could support what I’m doing by making a donation to this extraordinary cause. We can all help to change young children’s lives.”
