The former county council day centre on the corner of Victor Street and Berkeley Street has been put up for sale.
The ‘Kitchener Institute’ building is on the market with Louis Taylor for offers around £175,000. The sign and website information state: “May suit a variety of uses subject to planning permission.”
The 3,000 sq ft, single-storey building has a number of offices, meeting and classrooms, as well as basement cellar, kitchen and parking off Berkeley Street.
It was last used as a day centre by Staffordshire County Council but has a long history as an educational establishment.
What would you like to see happen with the Kitchener Institute?

I’d have to agree with Rob there- a community art & cultural space would be great. Space for group meetings, some practical workspaces and a usable outdoor area by the looks of things?
It would be great to see a good building with some history and character being used for something worthwhile rather than purely another business, or conversion into inadequate residences. It could really give something back to the town…

So many memories of this building. All our school dinners were prepared here when I was at Christ Church Primary (1957-1963) It was also were the school dentist was although they weren’t such happy memories!
