Young Stone cricketers suffered an agonising defeat in the first round of the Staffordshire Under 13’s County Cup last weekend.
Stone welcomed Milford Hall to the town on Sunday and won the toss, putting the visitors in to bat.
Despite the fall of regular wickets the Milford youngsters applied themselves and reached a total of 109 in their 20 overs. Top scoring was James Davis with 30. Naomi Dale was pick of the Stone bowlers with 2 for 14.

In reply, Stone got off to an excellent start thanks to an undefeated innings of 32 from Aidan Schmid. In the middle order Joe Potts (19) and Harry Brundrett (24) battled well, but tight bowling from Milford meant they struggled to keep up with the run target
Agonisingly, Stone ended just nine runs short.
