Lindsey Curtis, a long-time Stone resident, has embarked on an exciting new chapter with the opening of her LCT Homewares store on Whitebridge Industrial Estate. After 18 months of running her business online, Lindsey, with the support of her family, has now made the leap to a bricks-and-mortar shop.
This transition marks a significant milestone in her journey, one that’s been shaped by her passion for interior décor and her love for the Stone community.
A New Venture After 18 Years as a Stay-at-Home Mum
Lindsey has lived in Stone for 25 years with her husband, Jason, and their three teenage daughters. “After being a stay-at-home mum for 18 years and my children growing up, I wanted to set myself a new challenge and give myself something to focus on,” Lindsey explains. This desire for a new focus led to the creation of LCT Homewares, a home-based business that quickly grew in popularity with local residents.
For the first year, Lindsey ran the business from her home, building furniture and managing stock from her living room. However, the online store’s success soon made it clear that a physical location was the next logical step. “After 12 months of having our house taken over by boxes, furniture, and polystyrene, it wasn’t sustainable to maintain this situation, so it was either make the leap or scale it back.”
Passion for Interiors and the Local Market
Lindsey’s interest in home furnishings was sparked when she and her husband renovated their first house. This experience instilled in her a love for creating beautiful living spaces, a passion she’s carried into her business. “I’ve always had an eye for interior décor,” she says. “Being aware of the gap in the market within Stone for home furnishings and furniture, I thought it was worth a go.”
LCT Homewares offers a range of home furnishings and gift items that cater to different tastes and budgets, something Lindsey feels strongly about. “Everyone should be able to have a beautiful place to live, regardless of their financial situation,” she says, reflecting on how her personal experiences have shaped the business.
A Family-Run Business Rooted in Stone
What makes LCT Homewares special is the support Lindsey receives from her family. “It’s been a true family-run business so far,” she notes. “My husband and daughters have pulled together, and even my parents and brother help out with deliveries and collections.”
Community support has also played a huge role in Lindsey’s success. With nearly 3,000 local followers on Facebook, many of her customers have become regulars and even friends. “I don’t think I would have had the confidence to take this leap without their kind words of support and encouragement,” Lindsey admits. “They’ve guided me in the direction the business has taken.”
Looking Ahead: Goals for the Future
With the new store opening on 21st September, Lindsey is excited but humble about the future. “At this moment in time, I just hope our new little shop is of liking to our customers, new and returning!” she says. As she settles into her new location on Whitebridge Estate, Lindsey looks forward to continuing to serve the Stone community with her unique selection of homewares.
For anyone interested in visiting, LCT Homewares will be open for the first time this Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, and Lindsey can’t wait to welcome customers to her new shop.
