Learn how to save a life with Biker Down workshops returning in 2025

Biker Down Staffordshire

Free life-saving motorcycle safety sessions are back for another year, with riders in Stone and across Staffordshire encouraged to get involved.

If you were first on the scene of an accident involving a motorcyclist, would you know what to do? Would you know who was most at risk, how to protect the area, or whether you should remove the helmet of a downed fellow rider?

Biker Down Staffordshire is offering a new run of free workshops in 2025, helping riders of all ages, abilities and licence types learn exactly how to respond in the event of a collision.

Practical help from experienced bikers

The Biker Down team is made up of serving and former emergency services personnel with decades of real-world experience. The programme is led by Rob Gilligan, a former sergeant and police motorcyclist with Staffordshire Police’s Road Crime Team and the Central Motorway Police Group.

Created by bikers for bikers, the course gives participants the confidence to act when it matters most.

Workshops are split into three modules:

  • Scene safety – learn how to secure an accident scene
  • Casualty care – understand how to provide basic first aid
  • Rider skills – tips for improving on-the-road safety

Everyone who completes the course receives a bespoke trauma care kit designed to fit easily on a motorcycle, along with a Biker Down pin badge to show their support for the wider biking community.
