Lisa Russell has got her work cut out over the next week or so – she’ll have to conquer her fear of heights pretty quickly as she’s climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice!

Lisa is joining seven other people to raise money for the Dougie Mac, and flies out to Kilimanjaro International Airport tomorrow (19th February). As well as raising money for the hospice, Lisa is also raising funds for Breast Cancer Campaign too. Both causes are very close to her heart.

She starts to climb the Machame trail on Saturday (21st February) and – after a gruelling five days – will reach the summit of Kilimanjaro (almost four miles up!) on 26th February after a final 16-hour day of climbing starting at midnight.

Lisa said: “To be honest, emotions at the moment are on a rollercoaster and I’m still worried that I won’t hit my target of raising around about the same amount of cash for my charities that is has cost me to go, so any donations would be hugely appreciated for two wonderful charities. It’s a personal challenge, no ifs and buts. I hate cold (it’s minus 20), I hate not showering every day, twice a day, but it’s baby wipes all the way and toilet facilities are, well, less than 1 star and, actually, I’m not too great with heights either!”

Good luck Lisa! See you back in Stone on 1st March.
