Little Stoke Cricket Club’s Clive Finney is retiring from his groundstaff duties after 60 years and has been nominated for the award of Club Hero in the national Cricketer Pride of Cricket awards.
Clive has worked on the bottom pitch for most of the 60 years, and many local junior and senior male and female cricketers will have benefitted from his work.
In recognition of this, Clive has been nominated for the award of Club Hero in the national Cricketer Pride of Cricket awards.
Little Stoke would see it as fitting recognition for Clive to win the award, but they can only do so with the help of local people to vote for Clive via this link -> Pride of Cricket Awards – Club Hero (or search Cricketer Pride of Cricket awards).
Clive was unaware that the club had put him forward. He was “surprised and honoured to have been nominated” when told that the Cricketer had put him forward as one of 13 nominees for this national award of Club Hero.
Clive is certainly up against some stiff competition, but the whole club hope he will gain sufficient support to have a chance of winning the award, which is split between a public vote and a vote by the Cricketer and their sponsor LV Insurance.
Thank you to all those who vote for Clive (please note the deadline for voting is Wed 5 Oct at 5pm).
