Budding stars of stage and screen at Stone’s Pop School & Stage Academy (PSSA) were in for a special treat during half term as they were put through their paces by a cast member from CATS the musical during a special workshop.

The Professional Masterclass took place at PSSA’s Rooftop Studios base on Tuesday 29th October, led by West End performer Cameron Ball – who plays the character of Macavity in the 2013 European tour – and offered students a unique opportunity to learn original West End choreography from the show.

They also gained insight into the world of professional musical theatre from Cameron; who trained at Laine Theatre Arts, where he was Head Boy, before embarking on a career that has seen him perform all over the UK and abroad in shows such as A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, Hello Dolly, Chess, Fiddler on the Roof and Showboat.

Rooftop Studios’ pricipal Elaine Bird said: “Cameron provided a fantastic workshop that really captured the imagination of our students. He worked with three different age groups ranging from 6 to 18, so it was something the whole school could get involved in.

“His parting comment was that some of the students in the older session could quite easily have sneaked on stage and joined in that evening at The Regent they were that good, so it’s great to know their hard work and dedication is paying off.”
