A 29-year-old man from Stone has pleaded guilty to drink driving after police stopped his vehicle in the town last week.
Zachary Brown appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday, 14th March, where he admitted to driving a vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit.
Officers were called to Oulton Road at around 7:00 pm on Thursday, 13th March, after reports that a man had been drinking and was about to drive. A short time later, police stopped Brown in a grey VW on Christchurch Way. He was given a roadside breath test, which recorded a reading of 64 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath—almost twice the legal limit of 35.
Following his guilty plea, Brown was handed a community order as part of his sentence and ordered to pay £199 in costs.
A police spokesperson said:
“We’re working hard in Staffordshire every day to take action against those who put themselves and others at risk on our roads.
Drink and drug driving are key factors in serious and fatal collisions, and officers are proactively targeting those who get behind the wheel under the influence.”
Police continue to urge the public to report suspected drink or drug drivers to help keep roads safe.
