A man has appeared in court charged with multiple offences following a number of recent doorstep parcel thefts across Stone, Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent.
A 38-year-old man from north Staffordshire has been charged in connection with a string of doorstep parcel thefts reported across the region.
Robert Martin appeared before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Wednesday 2nd July, facing two counts of burglary and four counts of theft. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday 4th August.
The charges follow a number of recent thefts where parcels were taken from outside people’s homes. While it has not been confirmed whether these charges relate to any specific incident in Stone, the issue has been a growing concern locally.
Just last month, a follower shared CCTV footage with A Little Bit of Stone showing a parcel being stolen from a doorstep in broad daylight. The video drew widespread attention and highlighted the need for better awareness around delivery security.
Staffordshire Police are encouraging residents to take steps to prevent doorstep thefts where possible. Their advice includes:
- Tracking parcels and trying to be home for delivery
- Using alternative delivery addresses or trusted neighbours
- Asking couriers to leave items in safe, concealed places
- Installing doorbell cameras or using secure parcel boxes
