A 35-year-old escaped prisoner has been charged with three knife-point robberies, including the one at The Wine Cellar in Stone that happened earlier this month.
Detectives from Cheshire, working closely with colleagues in Staffordshire, have charged Nicholas Andrew Overton with the knife-point robbery at corner shop in Oulton Road which happened on 8th September.
Overton has also been charged with knife-point robberies at the Co-op in Haslington on 12th September and at Park News in Macclesfield on 30th August 2013.
He was also charged with being a temporarily released prisoner from HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington being unlawfully at large.
Overton was arrested in the early hours of Thursday 19th September at an address in School Crescent, Crewe.
A 38-year-old woman was also arrested on harbouring an escaped prisoner. She has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Overton will appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on 20th September.
