First Half
Stone Old Alleynians kicked off the new season with a trip to Bilston, but it looked to be stone cold alleynians as they went 2 goals down in the first 15 minutes. Clarke and Royals were the two goal scorers and with the home side also striking the woodwork and continuously looking dangerous the old boys looked to be heading for defeat.
The Old Boys gradually got back into the game however and pulled a goal back with 5 min of the first half remaining. Matt Thomas half volleyed a corner, on the Alleynes’ right, into the top corner from 20 yards.
Half Time – BILSTON TOWN 2 – STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS 1
Second Half
3 mins into the second half and the visitors were level. Excellent interplay between Malaki Norford, Adam Tomkinson and Ollie Davis enabled the latter to put in a low cross for George Askey to guide the ball past Edwards in the hosts goal.
The second half was more even than the first, but it was still Bilston looking the most dangerous. With only 5 mins left Stone paid the price when they lost the ball trying to play out of defence and substitute Elwell scored from the resulting corner. Then with nearly all the Alleynians players pushed up for a corner Bilston broke clear, outnumbering the visitors defence 2 to 1. A subsequent penalty enabled Clarke to score his 2nd, which proved to be the last kick of the match.
Final Result : BILSTON TOWN 4 – STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS 2
