Stockingford Pavillion vs. Stone Dominoes Ladies (1st)
Stone started brighter of the two teams with chances going forward for strikers Vikki Garner, Mollie Prime and Lacey Smith, however Stockingford scored against the run of play, this soon turned into the worst half of football in Stone Dominoes Ladies history! Stone, giving all possession away, not picking up players and a total lack of concentration Stockingford were 6-0 up by half time.
Second half saw the Dominoes in a totally different light. Substitutes Nat Price, Poppy Hallam and Maria Birkett came on putting a good shift in. Keeping possession and creating chances time after time. Players began working as a team, talking, supporting and creating chances. Stockingford got another after a player ran through the midfield to make it 7-0. In reaction to this Mollie Prime scored Dominoes first goal firing it through the legs of the keeper. 7-1. Stockingford played well as a team, slowing the game down, taking a foul when Dominoes were on the break. Luck certainly wasn’t on Stones side and every 50/50 ball went against them. Stockingford were awarded a penalty after a corner came in and a push on the striker gave the ref no choice but to award the kick. 8-1 Stockingford. Vikki Garner got her name on the scoresheet after a run down the left hand side, cutting it back to the top right corner. Stone were pressing for more but had left it far too late after the dismal first half.
It was the second heavy loss the girls have taken in two weeks, they are looking to bounce back next week against Brereton Town Ladies. Player of the match went to Tash Tezgel after another good performance in the centre of the park, second half winning everything in the air. Creating opportunities for the strikers and for her general composed self when things went wrong for the Stone side. Poppy Hallam proved herself after coming on a sub on her debut for Stone.
Final Score: Stockingford Pavillion 8 – Stone Dominoes Ladies (1st) 2
Stone Dominoes Ladies Reserves 1 – Lichfield 8
Another loss for the new reserve side, after moving up from girls football – the team are still looking for their first win. On a positive note, Leila Trussler got her name on the scoresheet and there were some good all round performances from a few of the girls still trying to find their feet in this competitive league.
