Mayor becomes official beer taster!

Stone’s new mayor has only been in the job a few weeks but she’s already landed a great job – official beer taster for Lymestone Brewery!

Cllr June Price will be tasting the ales and giving them her official seal of approval before they leave the factory and head for pubs and shops across the region.

Lymestone owner Ian ‘Brad’ Bradford approached Stone Town Council and asked for their help in creating the position as a way of celebrating the town’s brewing history.

The town council added the beer taster to the agenda at their last meeting, where Cllr Price was appointed.

She told The Sentinel: “I think it’s a wonderful idea and it’s fantastic that a woman has got the job of the town’s official beer taster. And I’m sure if there is one occasion when I am unable to make it, there will be a lot of my male colleagues who will volunteer to take my place.

“It’s wonderful to have a brewery in the town again following on from Joule’s and Bents and Lymestone is keeping that tradition alive.”
