This autumn, Cats Protection’s Stafford and District Branch (which now also includes Cannock) is championing black and black-and-white cats as figures reveal they spend longer in care waiting for their forever homes.
On average in 2018, misunderstood monochrome moggies took 13% longer to find their new home than other coloured cats, spending one whole week longer in care according to the charity.
27th October is Cats Protection’s annual National Black Cat Day, dedicated to championing black and black and white cats, the charity is encouraging cat owners from #TeamBlackCat or #TeamBlackAndWhiteCat to share their photos, videos, stories and selfies while using their team hashtag and #BlackCatDay.
A spokesperson for Cats Protection said: “We believe the main reason for monochrome moggies being overlooked is that they are more common than cats of other colours such as ginger or tabby.”
When it comes to choosing a cat, volunteers and staff at the Stafford and District Branch are hoping to show that black and black-and-white cats have just as much love to give.
Black/Black-and-white cats currently in need of a home include Mitzi and Minnie are lovely, gentle natured girls looking for their loving forever home. Mitzi is 3 years and Minnie 1 year, both neutered and microchipped and had at least the first part of their vaccination. They are being overlooked purely because they are black and white. KITTEN ALERT – Cola, Coco, Pepsi and Pepper are all gorgeous black females looking for their forever home.
If you are interested in offering any of these gorgeous girls their loving forever home please arrange your home visit by one of the volunteers by calling 03452601509 weekday 9am to 5.30pm and Saturdays 9am to 2.30pm, email cpstafford25@gmail.com or web site enquiry at www.cats.org.uk/stafford and their Facebook Page
