M&S Stone kick start their £5000 charity challenge

M&S AEDTeam members from the new Stone M&S store have began a charitable quest for Stone’s AEDdonate

The new M&S Foodhall is opening later this year and the team have made a commitment to Stone based charity AEDdonate. The team members plan to raise a whopping £5000 for the charity before the store opens.

To get the challenge going the team headed to 2 major M&S stores nearby at the weekend. Exercise bikes were setup at the Wolstanton & Tamworth stores for the teams to get on their bikes for charity.

The riders racked up an impressive 260 miles and in doing so raised over £500 for AEDdonate. AEDdonate provide automated external defibrillators (AED’s) to local communities and the money from the fundraising will be going to support the charity’s work in the community.

M&S Stone Store Manager Paul Cottrell said:
“Our first event was a great success and we raised £513 for AEDdonate. We have many more events planned, including 2 of the managers who will be running the Stafford Half Marathon on 18th March”
“We are proud to support AEDdonate who will use the money to provide life saving equipment for use within our local community.”
“M&S, as a compnay, have a community engagement programme which has the goal to create a positive impact in society and improve peoples’ lives wherever we touch them.”
Jamie Richards, Chief Executive said:
“Its great that Marks and Spencer’s have picked AEDdonate to be their charity of the year, all funds raised in store will of course come back to benefit the community of Stone.
Without the hard work and generosity of other organisations we wouldn’t be able to continue the work that we do in our community.
Its great that a national organisation has recognised a small charity based in Stone and understands and values the work that we do.”
