The organisers of Stone Music and Arts Festival will be looking ahead to the 2014 festival at a public meeting in the town – and music lovers who want to get involved have been urged to go along.

The meeting is taking place on Monday 16th September at 7.30pm at Stone station community centre. Festival chairman Steve Brookes will be presenting his annual report at the Annual General Meeting – but then attention will be very much focused on next year.

Members of the group will outline initial plans for the 2014 Music and Arts Festival and how they will be working together to make the 2014 festival the best yet.

Stone Music Festival is the West Midland’s biggest free music festival and has attracted thousands of visitors to the town for two days of live music on stages in the High Street since 2008. In July this year more than 25 groups and solo artists delivered nearly 20 hours of live music and performance.

Hands up if you had a great time at Stone Music Festival!

Steve Brookes said: “2013 was our fifth music festival in Stone and we are looking forward to our sixth in July 2014. As volunteers we know all too well that organising the festival is hard work – but our reward is to see thousands of happy faces singing (and sometimes dancing) along to the musicians we put on the stages. We were delighted with the support of our sponsors from last year and hope to build on this in 2014.

‘We’ll be inviting our growing group of Friends of the Festival to once again support us at our meeting on the 16th September and we are already talking to local business people about supporting us in 2014.”

The group will also be looking for more volunteers to join them in planning and putting on next year’s event.

Steve said: “It’s Stone’s music and arts festival so let everyone in the town join us in making it an event to be proud of. We are keen to encourage people from Stone to give as little or as much of their time as they can. It is very rewarding and we are building not only a good festival group but also a group of friends who share a love of music and arts.”
