Stone Festival is always a major highlight of the summer and the town’s events calendar, with an abundance of attractions.
This year the popular event takes place from 5th to 12th June. Full details of the exciting extravaganza’s line-up can be found on the festival’s website at www.stonefestival.co.uk
But in addition to the usual established favourites (and new ones like the soapbox derby) we’re being spoiled with some great musical entertainment this year.
As an appetite whetter in the run-up to the festival, on Friday 20th May Lymestone Brewery, which has become a novel and unconventional gig venue in recent years, presents Jazz in the Brewery with quintessential quartet Jazz Jamboree. Entry is £6.
As the festival gets under way in earnest, Sunday 5th June sees St Dominic’s Priory School Hall play host to Proms in the Hall. While a great time can be guaranteed at the festival, the one thing that can’t be guaranteed is our unpredictable climate! Last year’s Proms in the Park at Westbridge proved immensely popular, warranting a welcome return, this time without the worry of woeful weather. The hall will be transformed to provide a remarkable setting for three hours of exquisite classical and operatic music, with the full line up still to be unveiled. Tickets are £5 but numbers are limited, so don’t delay.
Rounding off the week ahead of Carnival Saturday, local band CID bring their brand of polished rock and pop to Lymestone Brewery on Friday 10th June from 8pm. The band have a dedicated fan base and are sure to prove a popular attraction, so get in there quick to purchase your tickets, a bargain at £6.
