My Dear Rebel prepares to bring a dedicated children’s clothing shop to Stone; owner Laura Irwin told us all about it!
Laura Irwin has been around retail for a big part of her life, so after taking a break to be a full-time mum, she decided to get her teeth into something meaty, and from that was born – My Dear Rebel.
The new shop is on the corner of Oulton Road, taking over the former Raymondo’s Tattoo Parlour. The unit had been vacant for a number of years but has recently been refurbished, ready for occupation.
Laura told us about her journey to opening My Dear Rebel:
“I’ve been around retail for a long time, working up from a temp to various management positions at a large High Street retailer.
When my children were born I took a break to focus on being a full-time mum, before moving back to doing part-time work.
During the pandemic, we moved from Newcastle-Under-Lyme to Barlaston and immediately fell in love with the both Barlaston and Stone. As a town, Stone has got such a lovely vibe to it – with a fantastic selection of independent shops, some core big name brands and a wonderful and welcoming hospitality sector.”
Laura went on to tell us about her chosen location and what will make her shop stand out from others in the area.
“When I saw this old building, full of character with the double fronted window and the exposed internal brickwork, I just had to jump at it!
It’s situated in the middle of lovely residential area of Stone, Stonefield and is on the route of many of the local schools and a wonderful park.
The aim of ‘ My Dear Rebel ‘ is to bring a positive customer experience, to make people want to visit, for not only great quality products but to enjoy shopping local again!
Stone doesn’t have a dedicated baby and children’s clothing shop so I’m really looking forward to getting to know the people of Stone. Since fitting out the shop I’ve had lots of people passing by with kind comments and well wishes, it fills me with so much optimism and I look forward to bringing something new to the town.
Being an independent business means that I have the freedom to sell the brands that I believe in. Products that are sustainable and organic will feature highly in store. I will also be listening to my customers, and use my flexibility and ability to adapt my business to ensure that I’m meeting my customers needs.”
My Dear Rebel will officially open its doors on Tuesday 1st March 2022. The shop will then be open Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 4.30 pm and on Saturday from 9.00am until 5.00pm
You can find the shop at 2 Oulton Road, Stone, Staffordshire, ST15 8DZ – Just by the traffic lights near The Bridge pub! We look forward to welcoming My Dear Rebel into Stone!
