Neighbourhood Watch conference held in Stone

This year’s annual Staffordshire Neighbourhood Watch conference took place in Stone last weekend.

The event took place at Yarnfield Park conference centre on Saturday 8th October and saw people from across the county finding out about the latest news and developments.

Keynote speakers included Assistant Chief Constable Jane Sawyers, Chief Inspector Simon Tweats (Integrated Offender Management), Rob Nunn (Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator), Sarah Byrne (Trading Standards), Jim Madden (National Neighbourhood Watch), Robbie Marshall (Cabinet Member for Public Health and Safer Communities, Staffordshire County Council). A question session was also open for all present.

Helen Jarvie, force partnerships co-ordinator, said: “This well attended event provided an ideal opportunity for co-ordinators, police and partner agencies to talk about Neighbourhood Watch and the vital part it plays in keeping communities across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent safe and reassured.”

Neighbourhood Watch was introduced in Staffordshire in 1982. Based on the principles of being a good neighbour, it encourages residents to communicate with and look out for each other through a free and open membership.
