New bins for recycling on the go

New recycling bins will be appearing in Stone soon to help people protect and improve the environment while they are out and about.

The “recycle-on-the-go” bins will be placed by regular waste bins so people can easily separate out valuable recyclable material.

The first bins have been placed in Stafford town centre ready for the Stafford Half Marathon on 25th March. Others will be appearing in Stone and around the borough soon.

Councillor Frank Finlay, Cabinet Member for Environment and Health said: “We are introducing these bins in response to public demand. People are now used to separating out recyclable material from their general waste at home, and they want to be able to do it when they are out and about too. We want to make 2012 a year for making recycling as accessible as possible both at home and away.”

The bins can be used for glass bottles, plastic bottles and cans. For more on recycling in Stafford Borough go to www.staffordbc.gov.uk/wasteandrecycling
