New cash machine now up and running at Stone Post Office

Stone town centre once again has a cash machine on the High Street, as the Post Office has completed its installation and switched it on for public use.

The machine is built into the front of the Post Office building and is free to use, giving residents and visitors 24-hour access to cash.

First High Street machine in a year

The last time Stone had a High Street cash machine was when the Lloyds Bank branch closed in September 2024. Since then, many shoppers and businesses have felt the gap, with people having to head further afield or rely on cashback from shops.

Meeting the need for access to cash

Easy access to cash is important for many residents, particularly older people who still prefer to use notes and coins. It’s also helpful for those enjoying an evening out, with pubs, restaurants and takeaways often busy late into the night.

Security and ease of use

The Post Office frontage is covered by CCTV, adding reassurance for those withdrawing money. The wide pavements also make it easier for people to access the machine without being jostled by passers-by, which will be especially welcome at busier times.

Supporting the community

The Post Office already provides counter banking services during opening hours, but this new installation makes sure Stone has round-the-clock access.
