New cat cafe gets its claws into Stone

Charlie’s Cat Cafe is set to open in the former Natwest Bank building in Stone at the end of November.

We caught up with Anna Brooks who, supported by her family and friends, will be making the leap from social worker to cat cafe owner!

Behind every business, there’s a story and Charlie’s Cat Cafe is no different. Anna, supported by her husband Andy and daughters Liv and Darcy, is teaming up with her best friend Karen Jones to open Stone’s first cat cafe.

After 20 years in social care Anna as a senior social worker, working with vulnerable children in child protection, was looking to take on something less stressful that could be part of the families legacy.

CharlieHaving lived in Stone all of her life Anna explains:

“With the former Natwest Bank becoming available I was in the right place, at the right time, and have found the perfect location for the cat cafe.

The cafe is called Charlie’s Cat Cafe in memory of my dear cat Charlie who we lost in January this year at the age of 18.”

Anna went on to tell A Little Bit of Stone:

“We will be serving barista coffee, and other hot and cold drinks, along with light snacks and afternoon tea….all in the company of 14 cats.

The cats have a calming effect and we want our customers to come a relax with the cats.”

Charlie’s Cat Cafe will be open 9:30am – 5pm Monday through to Saturday and there’s a plan to trial Sunday opening from 10am – 4pm.

There are currently alterations going on internally with a planned public opening scheduled for the 30th November.
