New fitness club for young people

St Dominic’s Primary pupils Jack Simpson, 11, and Gabriella Ronayne, 10, try out the X bikes

Youngsters in Stone have been invited to the launch party of a new fitness club that aims to get children in the town doing more exercise.

The launch party on Friday 1st March at Alleyne’s Sports Centre will showcase the variety of equipment and activities available in the sports hall, and there will also be a pool session from 6pm, with a giant inflatable obstacle course and swimming.

The ‘Tri-Active’ club will take place at the sports centre every Friday evening from 5pm to 7pm. The decision by Stafford Borough Council to set up the activity follows the huge success of their Olympic-themed Triathlon taster sessions last summer – where extra coaches had to be brought in to cope with high demand.

Tri Active will cost £4 per week and all participants must become a member for £1.50 by registering at Alleyne’s Sports Centre. There will be 30 places available each evening that will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
