Two pubs in the Stonefield area have reopened after weeks of uncertainty, bringing some welcome activity back to this side of town.

The Bridge on Oulton Road opened its doors again at the weekend with new landlady Audrey now in charge. The pub had closed suddenly earlier this month after the previous operator walked out, leaving regulars unsure how long the lights would stay off. Audrey, who has experience running other venues, stepped in quickly and welcomed customers back over the weekend.
Not far away, The Pheasant on Old Road has also returned to life after its own spell of closure.

Both pubs have experienced a run of short tenancies, which has made it difficult for them to build any rhythm. Hopefully the new landlords can make their mark on Stone’s pub community.
