People in Stone who sign up to Stafford Borough Council’s Walking For Health programme will get a 15% discount card to use in outdoor clothing retailer Millets.
Stafford Borough Council has teamed up with Millets to get more people in the area walking. There are more than 50 regular walks taking place throughout the borough – including in Stone.
Stone Health Walks take place every Tuesday in February and March. Walkers should meet at the canoe club headquarters on Westbridge Park at 10.50am and there’s a choice of two walks – a short walk and a longer one! The walks last around 30 minutes and are led by trained volunteer walk leaders.
Around 90 people a week already take part in the walks across Staffordshire. And now new members who complete ten of the walks listed in the programme can qualify for the 15% discount card.
Councillor Stan Highfield, cabinet member for environment and health, said: “Walking is an easy and cheap form of exercise that is accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. It helps improve or maintain your general health and is sometimes a great way to get away from the normal day-to-day stresses.”
There is more information about the walks here and dates, times and locations are also listed in the ‘Walkwise’ leaflet which is available in Stone library.
