The line-up at Stone’s new retail parade on Lichfield Road is becoming clearer, with Co-op saying its store is aiming to open this summer and other units confirmed as a new vets practice, a chip shop and EV charging points.

For many local readers, it is a development that has seemed to take shape slowly. But with the buildings now looking well advanced externally, there is a clearer picture of what the site will bring once it is up and running.
The remaining 1,000 sq ft unit is still looking for a tenant to complete the line-up at the new neighbourhood parade.
Confirmed for the other units are a new Co-op store, which will be joined by a new vets practice operated by IVC Evidensia, a new chip shop from Queens Fish Bar, while the car park will include InstaVolt EV charging points.
Co-op says store is aiming to open this summer
Alongside that, Co-op has confirmed to A Little Bit of Stone that its own store is currently expected to open in summer 2026.
In a response to an enquiry, a spokesperson said:
“We’re aiming to officially open the store in summer this year.
“As with all our new stores, ahead of opening we’ll host a ‘Get to Know Your Coop’ session, which is an opportunity for local members and residents to hear more about what this new shop means for them.
“Local people will be invited to hear more about membership and community activity, meet the store team and hear from the Store Manager, get a sneak peak of the new store mock up, a chance to taste some products, as well as the opportunity to ask any questions.”
No date has yet been announced for either the opening or the community session.
The development has been closely watched locally, including during earlier reporting on the Co-op’s licence application in January 2025.
One more unit still to be filled
Although the line-up is now much clearer, one final unit is still being marketed.
That means there is still room for another business to join the parade, with no confirmation yet on what that final occupier might be.
Our recent photograph of the site suggests the scheme is close to completion externally, with brickwork finished and glazing in place, although parts of the forecourt still appear unfinished.
For people in Stone who have watched the development progress gradually, this is the clearest sign yet of what the Lichfield Road site is likely to look like when it opens, and who will be trading there.
