Westbridge Park will be getting a brand new play area and Stafford Borough Council will shortly be asking people in Stone what they want to see at the park.
Draft plans have already been drawn up as part of the consultation and include a skateboard area, zip wire, multi-games area along with an extensive separate adventure playground for younger children.
The play area – one of two at the Westbridge Park site – has been a shadow of its former self since the wooden play area was removed for safety reasons in 2009.
The work is to be funded by developer’s cash – called section 106 money – and money set aside by the council to pay for the maintenance of play areas.
The plans are in addition to the consultation already agreed for improvements in the Walton area, which includes investment in the allotments and a possible multi-games area.

Currently the borough council is funding a new play area at the award-winning Victoria Park in Stafford using section 106 money.
And with that work nearing completion, cash will now become available in the 2011/12 financial year to help finance the Stone scheme.
Councillor Mike Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Stafford Borough Council, said: “I am pleased that things are beginning to move on this exciting project which the ward members and I have been working towards for some time.”
