The newly-laid road surface on Eccleshall Road in Stone has not been able to stand up to the sweltering heat.
The road was resurfaced just a few weeks ago, as well as a nearby stretch of the A34, but the chippings were all but washed away during days of heavy rain. The baking sunshine melted what was left of the new surface on Friday, leading to some pretty dangerous driving conditions and seeing lots of cars splattered in hot tar.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways department were out on Saturday morning applying a temporary top coat in an attempt to patch up the beleaguered road surface on one of the busiest roads in Stone.

all i can say is that if the job was done correctly in stead of papering over the cracks so to speak then it wouldn’t be the mess it is now, you only need to look at the newly laid section by aldi, thats still like the day it was laid. its about time to stop the half measures it saves money in the long run

Make haste slowly?
Several weeks ago I told the council that the roadside comms cabinet at the corner of Lamb Lane and Eccleshall road had been partially demolished by a vehicle. It has exposed cables and sharp metal edges which are a safety hazard, but nothing has been done about it yet.

maybe like in the winter when we have the wrong kind of snow on the railway tracks, now we have the wrong kind of sun on our roads ? 😉
