Allotment holders in Stone now have new alarms for their sheds thanks to a multi-agency group that operates in Stafford borough.

In a drive to keep garden sheds on the Tilling Drive allotments in Walton even safer, the Stafford Borough Joint Operation Group (JOG) – which consists of representatives from the borough council, police, fire service, PCT and other partners – provided the alarms.

PCSO Duncan Rollo from Stone Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: “With spring now well on the way, we’re urging keen gardeners to ensure their valuable tools are safe and secure.

“Fitting alarms and good locks on sheds is one way of deterring opportunist thieves and we’d also remind owners to consider security marking their property too.”

Clive Chadwick, Tilling Drive allotments chairman, said: “We’re very grateful for these alarms – and we’ve already received UV marker pens to mark all our equipment.”
