New Stone Football Club Takes the League

Newly formed local football club, Stone FC, finished their first ever season as a club as league champions.

In their last game on Sunday 21st May, the newcomers overcame Holmcroft 2-0 with goals from Dan Kocygit and Jack Scott from a jam packed Walton common.

The team, managed by Ben Pugh, have gone 17 games unbeaten on the way to this brilliant season including some big victories. Top goal scorer Liam Clarkson scored 61 goals for the club in just 20 games with the majority of players representing the club living locally.

Club sponsor Nick Griffin who owns Griffins of Stone butchers was delighted with the news and has promised the lads a BBQ using his quality award winning meat. Well done lads. A great footballing achievement for the town.
