No no no no……yes, Dibley raises £1000

Stone Revellers are proud to announce that during their fantastic production of The Vicar of Dibley, the society managed to raise £1000 for Comic Relief.

When Stone Revellers decided to perform The Vicar of Dibley for the very popular summer comedy slot, they contacted Tiger Aspect Productions and the agents of Richard Curtis who created the popular TV series.  The Revellers were told that rather than pay money directly for the rights to produce the show, they were required to make a donation to Comic Relief of £625 to perform the show five times, this sounds like such a great idea that the cast, crew and wider membership set about raising the funds straight away, activities including packing shopping at Morrison’s, charity karaoke, a cake sale and having charity buckets ready to receive donations from the audience flowing through the doors during the show week.

Not only did the production of The Vicar of Dibley completely sell out for the week, it was an extremely well received show and to top it off the Revellers raised far in excess of the £625 minimum, reaching £1000 exactly.

New Chairman – Leo Capernaros said “We are very proud of what we have achieved and Stone Revellers will continue its fundraising efforts in a bid to support our vital performance space.  Our society loves performing in the middle of Stone and St Michael’s Hall on Lichfield Street is in need of significant investment for it to remain open for business, we are working hard with the trustees of the building to keep improving things in the short-term and find solutions to secure the long-term future of the building and subsequently our wonderful local theatre group”
