Nominate your Stone stars in 2015 sports awards

Nominations are open for the 2015 Stafford Borough Sports Awards and people in Stone have been urged to get their entries in by 7th December.

The awards recognise individual, club and volunteer success in 2015 and acknowledge achievements in a variety of sports in the borough. The 2015 awards evening will take place on Friday 26th February 2016 at Staffordshire County Showground.

Entries can be from any sport and nominations are open now. Individuals must live or be a member of a club in the Stafford Borough area and clubs or teams nominated must be based in the borough. Nominations must also be for achievements in the last 12 months (apart from the Special Contribution to Sport Award).

It’s been a great sporting year in Stone, with so many players, coaches and clubs who would be worthy of an award!

Stone Dominoes LFC had a promotion-winning season and are flying again in the 2015/16 season, including a fantastic run in the FA Women’s Cup. Stone Old Alleynians made the final of the JW Hunt Cup at Molineux, the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Members of Stafford and Stone Canoe Club have had a fantastic year and so many of them are worthy of an award – and the season was topped off in style with Rio 2016 Olympics selection for Joe Clarke and national championship rankings for others.

It was a treble-winning season for Stone Cricket Club

Stone-born Kieran Brookes played in the Rugby World Cup finals; truck racing star Dave Jenkins is going great guns in the British Truck Racing Association championships; Stone Cricket Club had a fantastic, treble-winning season. And there are many, many more examples, including dozens of junior clubs in all kinds of sports.

  • Under 18 Sports Performer of the Year (Female)
  • Under 18 Sports Performer of the Year (Male)
