Nominations are now open for the Staffordshire Dignity Awards and people in Stone are being urged to nominate someone they feel has gone the extra mile in caring for people and giving an excellent quality of service.
The Dignity Awards recognise carers and care services and community groups who respect people’s dignity. These services ensure people are treated with respect, that they can freely express what they want, and can maintain the maximum level of independence, choice and control.
Anyone can nominate those they felt went the extra mile in caring for people and giving an excellent quality of service. Staffordshire County Council, who are behind the awards, want to see as many nominations as possible to ensure young people, family carers, community groups and organisations are celebrated.
County Councillor Alan White, Cabinet Member for Health, Care and Wellbeing, said: “These awards provide a real opportunity to celebrate and reward individuals who make the dignity of the people they care for their top priority.”
Previous winner, Patricia Jones from Champion Care and Consultancy said winning a Dignity Award meant a lot to her and her organisation: “As an organisation, winning a Dignity Award was the absolute pinnacle of our domiciliary care journey. To be nominated by people we support and their families bought such recognition and reward to each and every employee.”
Those wishing to nominate someone for an award should visit www.staffordshire.gov.uk/dignityincare, email dignity@staffordshire.gov.uk or contact the Care Market Development team on 01785 355795.
Nominations close on January 6, 2015. A panel of judges will then choose the eventual winners, who will receive their awards in a special ceremony on March 25, 2015.
