Stafford Borough Council has set up a new section of its website to keep residents up to date on bin collections as the winter weather starts to bite.
The council has put together some advice and tips in case scheduled bin collections are disrupted because of severe conditions. A new web page to let people know what will happen during the adverse conditions can be found at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/badweather
Council environmental protection manager Mark Street said he wanted to make as much information as possible available to residents before severe weather hits the borough.
He said: “We want to ensure that if at all possible the service keeps running whatever the weather throws at us and we also wanted our residents to know how they could help.
“When the snow and ice come it can be extremely dangerous to pedestrians, children, vehicles and our own crew. And even when the road appears clear the pathways may be dangerous for our crews to collect bins.”
“We know from experience that when there is snow more people leave their cars behind, often on the road outside their home, which can prevent our vehicles getting in to, or out of, a street safely in difficult conditions.”
Regular updates will also be posted on Stafford Borough Council’s Twitter account.
