Open afternoon at Tilling Drive Allotments

Tilling Drive Allotments

There’s a free ‘Dig For Victory’ open afternoon at Tilling Drive Allotments in Walton on Saturday August 15th.

Gates will be open at 3pm and a BBQ will be lit – visitors are asked to take along their own food and drink.

Jill Piggott is part of the community interest company (CIC) that manages the allotments. She said: “The theme of the event is ‘Dig for Victory’ and we hope to show how allotments may or may not have changed over the years. There is a prize for the best 1940s outfit should anyone be brave enough to dress up! There is also be a competition for the strangest looking vegetable grown. The event is a chance to come and have a walk around the allotments, chat with members/directors of the community interest company and, if you’re inspired, express an interest in joining us.”

The allotments were commended in Stafford Borough Council’s 2014 Green Awards for its community area.
