A charity that supports young people through bereavement is holding an open day in Stone on 24th August to showcase its vital work.

The charity ‘A Child of Mine’ recently launched a new project targeted at bereaved children and young people. They call it ‘Our Space’, with the aim being to support those who have suffered some sort of loss in their life; whether that be a sibling, parent, or a significant someone. The group meets regularly in the town.

The charity are holding an open day on Monday 24th August at Stone Community Fire Station between 11.30am and 4pm.

This is a chance for families and professionals alike to come along and meet the team, see the work that they are doing and even join in some of the activities they hold during the sessions. Food and refreshments will be available during the day along with a chance to meet a few of the children that are actively attending the groups already.

The ultimate goal of Our Space is to build confidence within young people through drama and humour, it is a safe environment backed by a dedicated team who are determined to support them in any way they can. Despite it being in its early stages, the group is already working closely with young people to mould the project around what they want to get from it. Our Space is completely free of charge and is facilitated by a fully trained drama teacher and counsellor who is there for any support that is needed. In addition, any young person or child is more than welcome to bring along a parent or carer if they feel more comfortable.

A Child of Mine and A Little Bit of Stone hope you can attend the open day and spread the word of the positive work done by this charity. If you would like any further information on the subject, please do not hesitate to contact the charity at hello@achildofmine.org.uk or alternatively you can call 01785 229544.
