Partial canal towpath closure from Monday 2nd November

Earlier this week, a temporary public footpath closure notice appeared covering part of the towpath along Newcastle Road in Stone.

Staffordshire County Council has published the below notice in respect of a temporary towpath closure that will come into effect from Monday 2nd November.

 WHEREAS the Staffordshire County Council (“the Council”) being the Highway Authority for Public Footpath No. 33 (Part) and No. 34 (Part) Stone Town is satisfied that pedestrians on the said footpaths in the Borough of Stafford should be prohibited by reason of the likelihood of danger to users of the Public Footpaths due to bridge refurbishment works.

 NOW, THEREFORE, the Council in exercise of the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:

 No person shall proceed along Public Footpath No.33 (Part) and No. 34 (Part) Stone Town starting from the rear of Limelock Court (Point A on the attached plan) for a distance of approximately 80 metres in a south easterly direction (Point B on the attached plan) and then for an additional 15 metres in a south easterly direction (Point C on the attached plan).

 This Order shall come into operation on 02 November 2020 and may be cited as the Staffordshire County Council Public Footpath No. 33 (Part) and No. 34 (Part) Stone Town (Temporary Closure) Order 2020.
