Staffordshire County Council’s economy leader has thanked people in Stone for their patience as a new phase of the works for Meaford Business Park are about to get under way.
From Monday 26th October, part of Newcastle Road will be closed to allow utilities to be laid. Bus services will be re-routed until the work ends on 18th December. Work has been taking place at Meaford since May on roundabouts and access roads to the new business park, leading to inevitable congestion in and around Stone.

Cllr Mark Winnington said today: “We understand that these are busy roads and would like to thank people for their patience while the scheme is carried out. This is an important development for Staffordshire which will bring real economic benefits to our county.
“The development at Meaford will bring a derelict brownfield site back into productive use, regenerate the area and see the creation of over 2,000 jobs. Providing the roads and services to this site is an essential first phase of the development and we want to complete this work as quickly as possible.”
The Meaford works as a whole are expected to be finished by May 2016. You can find out more at www.staffordshire.gov.uk/meaford and on Twitter @Meaford_Dev

The next phase of the Meaford Business Park works come as Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce reports that two-thirds of businesses in the county are being hampered by road traffic congestion.
[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]Jane Gratton, deputy chief executive, said: “We know there are many local pinch points in our towns, causing delays and adding to business costs. To help us understand in greater depth where the problems arise and how they affect our business community, we will be carrying out a more in-depth transport congestion survey. This will give businesses the opportunity to highlight congestion hot spots and identify possible ‘quick-win’ solutions.”[/box]
If you’re a business in Stone, you can take part in the survey on the Stafford Chamber of Commerce website.
