As Peter Knapper sits at his bench in his Lichfield Street workshop, silently toiling with tools and burners, he’s bringing 35 years of experience to the piece of diamond jewellery he’s creating.
With skills honed over decades, he’s producing something pretty special for a customer, a lady who’s getting married next year. She had three 9-carat gold rings that she no longer wore, one set with diamonds, and wants them made into one wedding band, with the nine small diamonds from the three rings set into the new creation. Something truly unique for her special day.
Before starting work on the ring, a number of sketches and designs were produced, with the customer involved at every step to make sure the finished creation will be just what she’s looking for.
Peter’s speciality is crafting unique engagement and wedding rings and other pieces of bespoke diamond jewellery. His business – Diamonds to Cherish – has been in Stone for 17 years, with a large workshop area full of tools and jewellery equipment. It’s literally a ‘hidden gem of Stone’, a master craftsman’s den below street level.
